prayer on a doorstep
Sandee Macgregor / December 15, 2020
You may not know it, but there are moments when you need prayer on a doorstep, or perhaps even while shopping at Walmart. Both have happened to me at different times. A few years back I was out shopping and unexpectedly met up with a dear friend and mighty prayer warrior. We hugged and laughed while in a particular section (no need to mention!) and after sharing our hearts (at Walmart) I knew I was undone and she knew it too. Right then, right there, she prayed for me with passion, purpose and peace. Not sure how long we prayed, I didn’t care. It was a moment that God ordained. I will never forget that time.
Fast forward a few years and devastating news landed on the doorstep of friends that their son is very sick and in hospital as I type this post. Friends have come alongside of them in ways so needed. For such a time as this, I was privileged to be able to meet with a lovely friend that is currently serving the family by taking in all their kids while the parents stay with their son in the hospital. It was a moment of prayer on a doorstep that God graciously allowed us to have together. It reminded me once again what this pandemic has done. Taken community away that I hold so dear. However, it was also a gentle whisper into my soul that God is present, covid or not, and moving mightily in unexpected moments. My prayer is that I may be blessed with many more doorstep moments.
Our time here is not guaranteed. Our eternity, secured by our Saviour on the cross when we choose to believe that he suffered and died for our sins and was raised to life, is. He covered our sins on the cross. I believe that my future is in his hands, my hope is in Jesus. That is what we prayed in Walmart and on the doorstep. He is our living hope. This song beautifully sings of the hope we have on all the doorsteps and Walmart moments.
"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
