10,000

10,000 steps
10,000 pucks
Walking, stepping, aiming and shooting. All toward some sort of goal fashioned for personal success. I had a fitbit a long time ago. I didn’t want it on my wrist so I purchased the small version that looks like an over-sized insect, a cockroach actually. I would put it in a pocket or purse to calculate all the promises that fitbit offers. Somehow it was created to motivate me toward better health. It worked relatively well, until I lost the charger.
Like the 10,000 steps goal, our oldest during his rep hockey years, had a 10,000 pucks goal. The team was challenged to shoot the puck daily and see who would be the first to pass what may have seemed like an insurmountable goal to a young athlete. The tag line for the team, even on t-shirts made yelled, I want it more! It certainly motivated my son. He was out there day after day. I could hear the sound of the stick hitting the pavement and puck hitting the cross bar through the seasons. Triumphantly he would come inside an announce the golden number for the day, 100, 200 or more. Talk about motivation, As a mom, I was thrilled to see him tackle the challenge. Try your luck in dash casinos with us! Whether aware or not, he set an example for his 4 younger siblings!
10,000 is a large number, but when I thought about the lyrics to Matt Redman- 10,000 Reasons Bless The Lord I was reminded that the reasons to bless the Lord are worthy of more than even 10,000. This song is one that automatically places me before the king of kings to worship him. To our worship leaders at church – Cliff Cline thank you for ushering us into a place of worship every week. Even though we can’t meet in person, we are still able to sing and worship through songs and preaching online. A strange new routine, but church never stops because of lockdown. We persevere and can continue 10,000 reasons to sing to the Lord!
10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)
O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
It’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger
Your name is great and your heart is kind
For all your goodness I will keep on singing
10, 000 reasons for my heart to find
O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing your praise unending
10, 000 years and then forever more
O my soul
Worship his holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship your holy name
O I’ll worship your holy name
I will worship your holy name
Holy name
Hockey was a very significant part of our home for many years. Thanks to my amazing husband he created a rink for hours of outdoor bliss. The only way we could all be together was if the boys would hold Katie, the girls push her in a stroller on the ice or I would use an over-sized shovel and push them around! Being together was my motivation to be creative. It was sometimes a challenge to find activities we could all do together but always worth lugging my big camera to capture the moment. Whether it’s 10,000 steps for increased fitness, 10,000 pucks to improve skills, I plan to listen to this song to remind me there are 10, 000 reasons to worship.

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

Loved seeing your pics of looking back . Pics help us cherish tangibly our memories. So good to have His discernment (eg what you are led to write)as we need it and God challenges us to ask for it. Takes us and our families down the roads of life well. Counting is a good thing and you compared 3 fascinating ways. And you also drew us in to the worship aspect of 10,000 using that song. And isn’t it also used in the 10,000 gifts of gratefulness? Forget the author’s name…. bottom line we’ve got a lot of blessings to count don’t we-you’re one❣️?
The challenge for me was to expand my minimal ways of blessing God and aim for 10,000 reasons! I just love that song. Bless you xo
