LOVE PART ONE: BROTHERS

LOVE PART ONE: BROTHERS
There is quite an age difference between my oldest boys and their youngest sister. At the moment, they are away from home at school and working. She is home and just 10, they are almost 20 and 21. Some may see it as too wide of a gap for any chance of a relationship, I on the other hand have seen something beautiful unfold over the past 10 years. Along with her older sisters, these girls have the unique blessing of older brothers. Growing up with 2 older sisters and younger brother allowed me many wonderful opportunities and experiences that have shaped my life. My girls have that too. The Mac brothers have impacted them in ways they may never fully know. From a mother’s perspective, I’ve had the privilege of watching this happen, taking pictures and writing it down. My journals are full of experiences, prayer, tears, triumphs and losses. Motherhood is a role I wholeheartedly embraced, not knowing the fullness of joy and the reality of parenting mishaps and various challenges that would arise. That’s parenting, walking by faith and trusting God with the outcome. A refining journey that begins from the moment you see the little line on the test. Parenting often begins with the hope of a selfless trajectory with innately selfish, imperfect people. Tough combination, but not impossible. With Christ at the core of parenting, grace quickly becomes the necessary theme and guides us through our selfish tendencies. Failure is inevitable, not where we have to stay. We have a loving, forgiving, faithful God ready to lift us out of the pit of lies saying we are not good enough for this parenting role. I go back to Psalm 40 in my mind time and time again to wait on the Lord,
“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” (Psalm 40)
Katie said, My brother, my faithful friend.” That is what she knows about her brothers. I want to thank my boys for instilling this beautiful gift in the heart of their youngest sister. The difference in their age is not a factor. For my other girls, you see things like that too and at the same time have other ways to describe your brothers simply because of age and experience. Our family is absolutely not perfect and fails one another. These moments allow us to put our trust in God to guide us through the times when we do fail one another. It has happened and will happen again. This is love post number 1. A thank you to you boys xox

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

Have always loved how your boys have big brothered Katie. The pics are a great reminder. Their embrace of her was evident from the beginning. The eldest and the youngest took each other on in similar looks and sweet rapport . Special
It has been sweet to watch them embrace her! xo
