Love part two: Sisters
Sandee Macgregor / February 13, 2021
During a creative writing course in high school, I recall an assignment to write thoughts on the future. Funny how I remember this so clearly. For some reason I had this mindset I would be a mom of 4 boys and included that in the paper. After my 2nd son was born, I remember briefly thinking that I was halfway. Of course, I always hoped for a girl. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that there would be 3 girls to follow. I have 2 older sisters and the blessing is beautiful.
Sister, a precious word.
It carries with it so many different meanings. Maybe you don’t have one, but your best friend has become your sister. Or, as my girls know so deeply, cousins are more than cousins. They are family that just happens to live under a different roof.
I had no idea that my sisters and I would experience weddings and babies so close together. We shared a wardrobe, bathroom, vacations, younger brother and miles of memories. Only God could weave a plan so fantastic. We can only lean in and trust him one day at a time.
Sister, a blessed gift.
Although there is an age difference between the girls (currently 17, 13 1/2, 10), the moment our 4th child (2nd girl) came home, and our first daughter held her I knew we were in for a lavish gift. I hoped they would become fast friends. Through the years and their own unique differences, challenges, gifts and experiences they share life. Moments they only know that draw them closer together. I see a sisterhood only God could orchestrate and has me on my knees with gratitude.
My hope (and of course my dear husband) has always been to create a home that prepares them for the next steps. A safe place to fail, succeed, plan, prepare, laugh, cry and figure how to love your sister when she borrows clothing unannounced (I never did that!).
The love my sisters show me is clear to my girls. I love them so much for this. Change will come, as they do, the prayer for my girls will continue; to share the precious gift, the blessings of sisterhood. I love you xo

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

Such a beautiful take on sisters. You have been very blessed. The pics show that. I want to reach out and pull them into an embrace. ?
