HABITS WORTH NOTING – journey with my girl
Sandee Macgregor / March 19, 2021
Often our habits are passed down without intention. For good or bad we can leave our habits in full view of our kids. Can we laugh at some of the habits adopted from our own parents? I hope we can and also, be aware of habits formed that are worth changing in our lives or on the flipside, enhancing.
One habit I am doing my best at daily is using the 5 Day Bible Reading Plan Tim Challies shares from this post. I have also been enjoying the Dwell App to listen to the Bible. For me, this is a beautifully blended combination. When I was walking outside ( see posts pre broken leg) I would listen while hiking with my dogs. But, there is nothing that can replace my actual Bible and journal (or the combination of the two, I love this ESV Bible Journal. These habits come from watching my parents regularly engage with the Bible along with many, many others over the years.
A habit worth noting lately comes from my youngest daughter Katie. She initiated her own Bible journey in a very special Katie way. Last year I took a photograph of a sunset and printed it out, placed it in the plastic cover of a binder and suggested the girls use if for subject of choice. It ended up in a drawer, forgotten until she pulled it out from hiding. Now this binder is her own Bible journey, one book-one verse. Very simply, and intentionally, she is selecting one verse from each book of the Bible and copying it out. Her excitement every morning is contagious. Eager to show me what she has done is a habit worth noting. I am grateful to journey with her as she shares what she reading and the joy it is bringing. She could read through the entire book on her own, or I can read it out loud. Both are great ways to engage with the Bible and strengthen your relationship with God. This one book-one verse plan is forming a lifelong habit for Katie that I believe she will look back on with gratitude because it wasn’t complicated for a ten year old, it was simply habit forming. Thanks Katie for encouraging me through this amazing habit. Bless you my dear xoxox.

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
