Seasons of Motherhood: Guest Post with Marina Hofman Willard
Sandee Macgregor / May 5, 2021
I am thrilled to have Marina join the Seasons of Motherhood today! We are unique friends as we have only met through conversations about her editing my devotional. Since then, we have kindled a friendship through text, facetime and email. From the moment we spoke last August, she has been a treasured encourager. When I first received my initial edits, I felt I had returned to a classroom with the most amazingly patient professor. Her caring, professional, patient approach allowed me to walk through a new experience with peace. I can imagine her students are thankful to have someone so proficient in her ability to engage with others naturally. Marina’s story of survival and trauma is truly miraculous; you can read more here. Motherhood is an incredible and joyous gift God blessed her with just a few years ago; her darling Willow is a reminder of the goodness of God in her life daily. She and her husband Larry live in Florida, soaking up the sun and diving into the publishing world together at Castle Quay Books. You will find more detail about Marina on her site. Thank you for joining Sovereign Radiance!

♥♥♥
Patience. Kindness. Gentleness. In all things.
The Holy Spirit has been working on me. Every year I try to form my character by focusing on a fruit of the spirit. It’s easy with a toddler. Especially one with a strong will and preferences.
I do not exaggerate to say the greatest challenge and pleasure of my life is to be Christ to my little one every day. For the first two years of little Willow’s life, everything she knew about Jesus—I think—was bound up in my husband and I. Before she knew the name of Jesus she had an encountered Jesus a thousand times through our actions and words.
What will Willow think about Jesus? Does he love her unendingly, despite her behaviour? Is he patient even when she is blatantly defiant? Will he meet an angry outburst with a soft answer?
To me, the most important aspect of motherhood is the constant awareness that I represent Christ to my daughter.
Prayer for my child:
Set Your peace upon my heart
That she will find rest in You.
Overflow my heart with love
That her heart will be turned to you.
May I dwell with You day and night
That she will sense Your presence when she is with me.
Hide Your words in my heart
That she will hear what is true.
Help me to act with integrity
That she may know right from wrong.
Guide me on Your paths
That she will be led in righteousness.
Set my heart on fire for You
That she will have passion for You.
Let me experience the power of Christ
so that she may live in freedom and victory.
Do miraculous deeds in my life
That she will encounter the miracle-working Savior.
Christ has redeemed my life; I am forgiven, loved, and made whole in Christ.
Help me to embody Christ in what I say and do that my daughter will do greater deeds for Christ in her life than I can ask or imagine.
Amen.

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
