Finding Faith – Creation Sings the Father’s Song
Sandee Macgregor / May 17, 2021
There’s something about nature walks. Since breaking my leg, nature literally comes to me through sitting outside in the warm sunshine and earlier on looking out the window during the cool winter months. Observing the dizzying activity of the birds at the feeders, the mischievous chipmunks lately has been quite entertaining. Katie and I left the patio table to go inside briefly and upon our return found that one chippy had dipped his wee feet into yellow paint left out from a craft, typed on my laptop something genius, attempted to open Katie’s binder and spilled the seeds. Lesson learned…
When we were daily walking together with cameras in hand and keen eye for spotting critters, we would in faith anticipate some creative finds. We have an abundance of milkweed so we began hunting for eggs or if we were lucky a caterpillar or if we were even luckier a chrysalis. We found the plump caterpillar, right out of the story by Eric Carle The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It was a sight to behold! An amazing part of creation.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use not words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:1-4
Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Psalm 96:11-12
“But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you.
9 Which of all these does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature
and the breath of all mankind.
Job 12:7-10
How many are your works, Lord!
In wisdom you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
25 There is the sea, vast and spacious,
teeming with creatures beyond number—
living things both large and small.
Psalm 104:24-25
Finding faith can take a lifetime for many. I think when I have struggled most with my faith, creation has been the reassuring visual God has used. Through the gift of his word and what I see around me, the hand of God is beautifully stretched as a canvas.
Walking with my kids in nature has always been a sure way to see more of God’s handiwork. A keen eye and willingness to get right in the creek and dig for frogs, crayfish or whatever else is lurking, has allowed me to see the pure joy in the uncovering of creation. Thankful for their natural curiosity!
If you look long and hard enough you will find faith.
At first glance you may miss the word in the stars. Katie creatively added the word FAITH in purple so you would have to seek it out!
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

Creation truly is his gift to us! xo
Job12… verses. Quite telling indeed. Don’t think I’ve read those in awhile… not hard to figure Who’s in charge! Lovely to read about Katie and your nature fun. ?
