Thankful – We Will Not Forget
Sandee Macgregor / November 11, 2021
We have a book just about my grandparents and their experience during WWII. My Uncle Chuck and Uncle Walter meticulously created this family heirloom. Today I want to thank you all who gave so much to be free in countless ways. I also want to share that my uncle included precious letters they wrote back and forth. I have lost count of the loving greetings they had for one another:
Dear Darling,
Sweetheart
Precious
My Love
Honey
Dear
My Darling Wife
Dearest
My Precious Wife,
I Love You, Precious
My Beloved Wife
Hon
Sweet
The depth of the letters expressing their love along with the regular details of life is moving. I get very emotional when I read through each one. I am grateful to have a record of this incredible marriage. Of course, it was not perfect, but they were in love, committed, and willing to be selfless.
That brought about many thoughts about our family and how that is our intention as well. To love, be dedicated, committed, and selfless. There are days we all fail miserably! I have to choose to look up, lean on others, and hold fast to Christ.
Who are your:
darlings
sweethearts
honeys
dearests
loves
beloveds
These are the ones we are closest to that see all we are behind closed doors. These are the ones that need to be called these endearing names.
My prayer today is Psalm 34,
“I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them”.
May we radiate Christ because we look to him, no matter what!
I will continue to read through this family heirloom and soak in these love letters. I think it is inspiring me to write some to my loves.
Worship today Psalm 34 (LIVE) | Shane & Shane
"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
