As the new year is just days away, I plan to begin my devotional again with my girls. Today is special as it is the morning after Katie’s 11th birthday. I took her away for a mother-daughter night to a hotel. We had such a wonderful time together. We talked, prayed, laughed, ate lots of good food, a movie in bed, swam in the pool, and card games. We began reading Raising Body-Confident Daughters by Dannah Gresh and started looking at beautiful truths about how she is a beautiful girl made in the image of God. We also began round two of the book I wrote, A Mother-Daughter Devotional and Shared Journal Experience for Psalm 119.  We wrote back and forth in the journal section of the book (She named The Switch).

 

Her words brought me to tears. She is constantly encouraging me in ways only God could prompt her to. Even though my other daughters are 14 and 18, they still can participate! We never outgrow God’s Word and write notes back and forth.  As the new year rolls in, my hope and prayer are that my words will be a source of encouragement for those around me. It’s tough to maintain a soft tone, uplifting words, gentle facial expressions, and a hope-filled presence on my own. Without the Holy Spirit guiding me, I will struggle. So, with His strength, I will persevere and press on into 2022. He is my source, and I want to allow that truth to flow out of me and into my home.
