A few years ago I had an opportunity to share my heart with others about mentoring. What a gift to listen to these women share the impact of mentoring in their lives. It was a reminder to me that this needs to happen and to keep on pursuing those God has placed in my life. There have been very clear moments when I sensed a tap on the shoulder to reach out to someone and simply ask if we could just get together. I recall one moment like that last year. I was prompted to reach out to a friend I had not seen or spoken to in years and initially I had that crazy lie in my head that she would think I was crazy. I mean who are you to contact me after so long? What has unfolded is a beautiful friendship! We text, talk on the phone, have tea on the couch and pray. WOW! God knew what he was doing when he moved me to reach out. If I had ignored the ‘tap’ I would have missed out on this incredible friendship.

Watching this episode from See Hear Love again brought me joy today! I love how one friendship can be so life-giving! What are you waiting for? Who is on your heart to reach out to today? Listen to that prompting and just do it. We need one another more than ever. Staying isolated helps no one. It is hard to make the first move, but don’t let the lie that you are not good enough creep into your mind.

I am reading through Proverbs and these verses are such a wonderful reminder:

 

Speak 

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.

Proverbs 18:4

 

Listen 

If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame.

Proverbs 18:13

 

Understand 

The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water,
    but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Proverbs 20:5
