My dear daughter blessed me with an early gift. I love this new devotional, Her Daily Bread, by Kate Wood (creator of Wood and Spoon)
I can’t believe I have never heard of her until now! I love the beautiful balance between her love of food and love for God. In this devotional, she shares passages of scripture along with a daily devotional and throughout, she adds touches of unique recipes. This gift couldn’t be more perfect for me! My dear, dear daughter knows me so well! I am grateful for all the moments we share and look forward to more to come.
Recently I have been reflecting on the importance of prayer, daily moments and soul care. I couldn’t help but think of my grandma Nellie. Her prayer life would have included generations she didn’t even know. That includes my kids, and I am so thankful to know that she prayed tirelessly for her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and so on! A legacy I hope to continue.
Adding this new devotional to my day is extra special as I know who gave it to me, and I can share what I am learning with my daughter.
Daily moments in prayer are like our need for daily bread.
The title of the devotional has me reflecting on the days when we said the Lord’s Prayer in school,
Matthew 6:9-13 NIV
I remember standing and reciting this in homeroom. It was normal, and I liked the routine. The Lord’s Prayer spoken at school extended what happened consistently in my home. Not long after, it became a moment of silence. Following that, the silence was replaced with nothing but announcements, perhaps. I think of my parents and how they kept prayer central to our home and am thankful that even though it was silenced in one place, it was spoken louder at home.
Daily moments are life-giving and a habit worth forming. There are many great devotionals to encourage digging deeper into the Word and prayer life! Here are another two I am enjoying right now:
Growing Grateful by Mary Kassian
New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp
Worship! You will love this version!
"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
