How many times have encouraging words been on the tip of your tongue? You see someone, even a stranger, and notice something lovely. It could be an outfit, how they interacted with the barista or with someone in a grocery line. Maybe it was how a mother tenderly cared for her toddler when they fell at the park. I could list endless possibilities! I have often annoyed myself for not saying something to bless someone else. I love this verse about well-spoken words,

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”

Proverbs 25:11

 

I was grocery shopping recently, and I had a very kind woman compliment me. I was looking for carrots and lettuce, not a kind word from a stranger! What she said resonated so strongly,

“We need to compliment one another!”

What she means is that we need to encourage one another! She happened to be complimentary with her words. If we all took the time to act on our promptings to bless others, we would have many people encouraged! It is always worth the time to share a word to bless others. How have you been blessed recently? Look for opportunities to compliment people, a game-changer for others guaranteed!

While on a coffee run a few weeks ago, the young woman at the drive-through had beautiful eye make-up. It may seem small, but I was moved to tell her how beautiful she looked. My order took a few moments, so we had the sweetest conversation. I left blessed, and she had a smile ready for the next customer. I am glad I didn’t shy away. I have before. We know words can lift or tear down. Maybe this week, be ready for a comment that will lift someone!
