Hope
Invited

The invitation is handwritten. You arrive and the table is creatively set with a personal name card at your seat. Fresh flowers, delicate plates and teacups grace the linen table cloth. This moment is a blessing, just for you.
Lately, do you feel uninvited? Are you weary of waiting for an invite to a beautiful table? Matthew 11:28-29 is a purposeful invitation for your soul today,
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Christ is calling us to rest our souls in Him. This is the kind of table I want sit at today. Many souls are burdened and even more hearts are weary and need to come, fully invited by God, to rest. When we take a moment to open His Word, we will see the personal invitation in the scripture to come to Him.
Years ago, I had a lovely neighbour that lived alone. Her husband had long since passed away . She was kind, spirited and friendly. Her routine included walking the country roads daily and watching for the deer at a unique spot she referred to as the deer run. I remember she pointed it out to me when our family first moved in, it is still used by deer today. I often wondered how she was managing living alone and the the weariness and loneliness she must have felt, I will never truly know.
Growing up, my mom always invited others to our home and blessed so many with a personal invitation. Observing this over many years, I knew I wanted to do this in my own home. So, I invited my neighbour over for tea. The girls excitedly set the table and baked and prepared lots of goodies. She arrived and walked into the dining room and was stunned and commented that she had never been invited over by anyone on our road before. That left me speechless. Never invited? It was such a simple thing to do. I suppose the business of life was the culprit. I am the first to blame for allowing my own life to get in the way of an invitation because I was too busy.
This tea party was a reminder that it is not about the tea and the food, it’s about relationships and being in a place that a weary soul can rest. Today, remember the invitation is always there from Christ. He invites you today to join Him in the most beautiful of relationships. One full of perfect love that casts out fear (1John 4:18).
"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
