Ordinary Angels is a moving and powerful movie that showcases the incredible impact we can have on one another, even as strangers.

This movie brings to mind words like perseverance, strength, family, connections, miracles, patience, endurance, heartache, joy, passion, laughter and persistence. A lot of words, yes! It’s because the movie unfolds scene after scene with each word living out loud and you just can’t ignore the bold emotions by all of the talented crew.

The main character is played by Hilary Swank. She carries with her some demons from the past, and an addiction that is flooding her day-to-day life. When she hears about a little girl who is very ill and has just lost her mother, her heart is moved to make a difference. And make a difference she does. The fact that this is a true story is just remarkable. Hilary Swank is absolutely incredible in this role. She embraces the steadfastness of the woman she portrays, and does not give up and the impact on the familyis truly life-giving and hope-filled.

I ran out to watch the movie because an old friend of mine whom I haven’t seen in many years has a daughter who plays one of the key characters in the film. Sky Walker Hughes masterfully carries the role as older sister, so naturally and eloquently, considering her young age. It’s really incredible, and I am so proud of her! I am also proud of her mom who is with her on location so she can do what she loves and for her dad that cares for the siblings and keeps life going while they are away!

This is a movie you do not want to miss! Grab your friends, family and some Kleenex, because it is emotionally charged, and your heart will be moved. The power of community and strangers coming together to make a difference is a definite highlight of this movie. One of my favourite scenes is between Alan Ritchson and Sky Walker Hughes while taking a moment to remember their mom/wife at the cemetary. There is a beautiful father-daughter exchange that is moving and tender. You will have to see it to know what I mean! I already mentioned Hilary Swank is incredible in the role and you will also find a wonderful scene near the end of the movie that reminds us all we are worthy – beautiful!

I always walk away from movies like this so thankful people are willing to put their heart and soul into creating something family-friendly and honorable.Thank you to the cast and  crew for bringing this true story to life!,
