Dear beautiful mother,

I just wanted to write a note of gratitude to you today. You, a beautiful mother with arms full of littles or a down-sized home with beds made and a fridge ready for the unexpected visit, are worthy. Worthy because you have been made in the image of God with a purpose. Your sacrificial love is a daily routine that often goes unnoticed and leaves you feeling unworthy. I understand, completely.  I have to remind myself (and others as well) that HE SEES, HE KNOWS! Our moments and days are in his hands and as we read in Psalm 139:16, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” When the days are a little harder, a lot longer, unexpected sleeplessness, doctor-filled or lonely I have learned I must hold fast to the promises of God,

Fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

 

Alone this life is tough, really tough. Surround yourself with others that will come alongside you in tangible ways, prayerfully and sacrificially and offer it right back as you are prompted. I can’t count the number of times I have been blessed with others helping with the kids, a meal, a text or an email full of prayers that have been lovingly prayed over me (and my family). There are days we almost hold our breath and we need someone on the phone to help us breathe out and be heard.

Recently, I went to check the mail and discovered a letter addressed to me (it seems it’s always bills, this was not) I sat outdoors and read through a letter literally soaked in scripture and prayer, just for me. This amazing woman I gratefully call a friend but we have not yet met in person! I will keep this in my journal on those days when I need the encouragement to be faithful in my walk with God, as a wife and mother. THS IS COMMUNITY! She carved out precious time to bless me, a mother in need of encouragement. It does not matter what stage you are at, a letter like this is a joy-filled gift.
