Jesus Skeptic
Sandee Macgregor / July 10, 2020
Jesus Skeptic –A journalist explores the credibility and impact of Christianity by John S. Dickerson.
For this journalist, the fact he pondered his own internal skepticism became his most important work resulting in a life-altering journey. John Dickerson researched thoroughly for many years to make sense of this Jesus so many people were talking about.
This Jesus that changed lives. This Jesus that took alcoholics and replaced unwise and cruel lifestyle choices with life-giving peace, forgiveness and God shaped hearts. This Jesus made clear, logical sense to many levelheaded people he respected and interviewed, so the hunt began to organize evidence to answer why they believed. John, by nature, demanded truth that would reveal sensible arguments. Researching the claim that Christianity was true required precision and the intense gathering of facts and evidence to make a logical statement. This journalistic process, his chosen profession, is what ultimately led him to discover the most exhilarating truth of all time: Jesus is the son of God and He is real.
John has brilliantly gathered mounds of critical information that will make your head spin (in a good way). This will potentially add many books to your shelves to dig into after you finish his masterpiece. He reveals from history fascinating information that you will want to know more about such as how schools, hospitals, abolition of slavery and women’s rights to name a few, were impacted directly by Christianity. I highly recommend this book and suggest sharing it with your questioning friends, neighbours, co-workers and family. Or perhaps, you are a skeptic like John on your own journey. I hope and pray you will find the foundational truth that he did that is undeniable, this Jesus is the son of God.
Book review to come: Why Suffering? Finding Meaning and Comfort When Life Doesn’t Make Sense. by Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
