Book Review: Safe All Along and Our Faithful God by Katie Davis Majors
Sandee Macgregor / March 19, 2025
Have you ever felt unsafe? Have you ever felt overwhelmed by anxiety, fear, depression, or wondering what to do about a situation that is spiraling out of control?
You are not alone!
New York Times bestselling author Katie Davis Majors (Kisses from Katie and Daring to Hope) has written two more books that are a must-have for your bookshelf. Each book will be a balm to your stormy soul. Safe All Along Trading Our Fears and Anxieties for God’s Unshakable Peace and Our Faithful God 52 Weeks of Leaning on His Unchanging Character, written two years ago, are as relevant today as when they arrived on the scene!
You might be familiar with her New York Times best-selling books Kisses from Katie and Daring to Hope. In those books, she shares her journey of arriving in Uganda, starting a ministry, adopting multiple children, eventually meeting and marrying her husband, and having more children. I wholeheartedly recommend you read those to learn about her journey. Today, I’m going to focus on her latest two books.
Safe All Along invites you to a journey of peace that our Heavenly Father promises. In Joh 14:27, we are reminded of Jesus’ words,
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
Katie invites us into her story of hills and valleys, triumphs and joys, reminding us that we are not alone, God is with us and will not leave us (Joshua 1:9, Hebrews 13:5-6, Deuteronomy 31:8)
Each chapter is layered with Scripture, stories of hope, short reflective thoughts and questions. She reminds us that she has experienced what she is writing about, and it’s as though you are sitting in her living room, sharing a hot coffee or tea, as she passionately encourages us to rest in the peace that our Heavenly Father provides. Knowing that God is in control, he sees and knows everything, which is a much-needed perspective in our chaotic world today. Safe All Along is a remedy for the tired, weary soul and the anxious mind.
Katie also created a devotional called Our Faithful God, which you can use for 52 weeks. She follows an inspired plan of Bible reading from Monday through Thursday. On the fifth day, you take time to reflect on what you have read, understand more about God’s character, and consider questions to challenge and encourage. This excellent devotional began as something for her family, and now we have the privilege of bringing it into our homes and draw closer to God in the process.
Consider adding all four books to your collection! Read and share with others; I guarantee you will be immensely blessed! If you have read her books, I would love to hear your thoughts!
Stay tuned for our a new podcast featuring Katie soon!
"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
