It will help us love one another more deeply right? When they walk out that door toward the loaded truck once again spreading their wings. We already love him, but something happens in the absence of a young adult off to school. We miss him and reflect on times together and begin to long for the next visit. Such a strange mix of emotions that we experience. I see it in the eyes of the younger siblings as the say goodbye, again. They know it’s inevitable, change comes quickly. Excitement begins to rise as they talk about visiting his new place. That I can’t say will happen for sure, it all depends on how our society manages the mass of students gathering again and if this virus will make another unwanted visit in large proportions. For now, we pack, load, shop and drive him to the next place he will study and live. Recently I wrote about leaving the nest and the home as a healing balm. We keep on building and maintaining our nests. The past 6 months have been full of hills a valleys, but mostly a shared connection as a family that I pray will continue to be the tie that binds.
