Create Routine
Sandee Macgregor / June 29, 2021
When you rise is unique to you. Babies and young ones become a natural alarm clock, daily workouts, career or simply the smell of coffee to lure you into the day. Routine is not uncommon to anyone, we all have it in some way, shape or form. I always find summer a transition of sorts into a new routine for all of us. Work remains the same for my husband, but school changes and therefore so do the demands and time requirements of the kids. Sleeping in later, no assignments, class adjourned, camp and just the change of pace in the summer. For me as the primary teacher, my days are not full of the regular facilitating of school work, driving to activities and other groups we are involved with. Covid changed all of that anyway, so as I look ahead to September, I know more change of routine will arrive quickly!
I still want my kids to have some sort of routine, I always have. I have good intentions and at times not the best follow through. In years past, I ordered summer reading for the kids through Sonlight. It was a fun box to open as the books were very exciting! I plan on ordering a few books from Usborne, for now lots of time outside, crafts, cottage time and yes, movies, mario tournaments (I still can’t stay on a straight path – I give up!). Some here love to read, others enjoy the idea of writing a book and illustrating it as well. The boys are working and others will be hired for odd jobs around our place and seasonal work locally. I have lots of reading and writing on my list, work outs, purging the house, visits, cottage moments and celebrating our 25th anniversary (along with one more summer birthday).
I will have a little less curriculum planning for the fall and not as much planning for the co-op I have been co-leading. I have decided to step down and take on some other new adventures, more on that later. Seasons, we all have them and within those seasons we have routine. So my challenge now is to create new routines that are functional and attainable.
Rise
Read
Reflect
Respond
Develop
Determine
Decide
Do
My hope is to follow the R’s and D’s above and make use of my moments and days. Through it all the power of prayer is a must. This is what holds it all together.
What does your summer routine look like?

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
