Daily Encouragement – Bible Teaching – Episode one Castle TV from the book of Proverbs
Sandee Macgregor / August 26, 2024
What a privilege to join 100 Huntley Street on Castle TV to share a teaching series on the book of Proverbs. Wisdom can come from many different people and sources today, which is good! We can sometimes become distracted by many well-meaning opinions and resources. As I was preparing this, as God always does, he gently convicts me that the first place I need to go is the Word of God. I had to navigate my weaknesses and remind myself to seek God first. I can easily make others or books a first choice when seeking wisdom for a particular situation. I needed the reminder of how important it is to seek God through his Word and prayer more consistently! Don’t get me wrong; if I didn’t have others surrounding me to walk me through life, I would miss out on the gift of life-giving insights that will keep me going. Look at these verses about our words,
“To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!”
Proverbs 15:23
“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”
Proverbs 16:24
“The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.”
Proverbs 18:4
When I read these verses, I think of my husband, mom, sisters, and friends who are ready to provide a gracious word! I am so grateful!
In this first episode, I discuss the importance of studying Scripture, particularly the book of Proverbs, to truly understand what it means to fear the Lord!
As we read the Book of Proverbs, we get to know the heart of our Heavenly Father! Proverbs is a gift to receive and apply to our everyday lives. We desperately need wisdom from this beautiful book, or we will wander toward foolish tendencies.
Proverbs is a call to action! In Proverbs 1:5- 6, we read that we need to hear, increase our learning, understand, and obtain guidance. That can’t be done sitting still!
“Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, to understand a proverb and a saying,
the words of the wise and their riddles.”
Proverbs 1:5-6
Join me over the next five weeks as I share each episode, and pray that God ignites a spark in your heart to dig into this fantastic book! If you don’t have a copy of the Bible, there are many ways to read it while you wait for it to arrive after you order one! The ESV or Dwell apps can be installed right now on your phone! Easy to do, and it will be life-changing!
