He is ALIVE!

Easter 2023
Easter morning in my childhood began with the song by Don Francisco, He’s Alive. It is a passionate celebratory song that I hear ringing in my mind to this day. It’s an old song with a message as exciting today as when Christ rose from the grave many years ago!
I am so thankful for this memory I hold. My siblings would agree! We can all picture our dad singing along with all his heart, and I bet he will do the same thing this Easter!
I marvel at our gift in the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus! How is it that we have this gift of love, perfect love in Jesus! We do, and that is what Easter is all about.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. (Romans 5:8)
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Our kids were excited about Easter Sunday morning, not only to head to church but it was the big chocolate hunt. Sometimes we would fit it in before church because they were excited to seek and find the chocolate treasures! Depending on the weather, we would make the hunt exciting inside or out and vary it because of age differences. The boys always had the biggest challenge, and we made a point of making it
really hard! I admit I loved dressing up with the family for this special day. Yes, I admit I would usually have the girls matching in similar dresses and the boys matching in handsome outfits too! I also was so grateful we could be together as a family to remember the resurrection of Jesus. Our immediate family takes turns hosting; we always have so much to celebrate! This year we have two new babies! My niece is due anytime, and my brother has two wee ones; the youngest is just five months! New life, Spring, and celebrating the resurrection is a beautiful combination!
This day changed the world. We have hope beyond this world. I know where I am going when I pass from this life to the next. No one wants to think about death; it is not a typically cheery topic, but knowing that I will see my Saviours face that day is worth thinking about and resting in the promise that heaven is real; Jesus made a way!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
SWEET MEMORIES!
Keith Green wrote this powerful song, The Easter Song, in the late 70s before tragically dying. It is a beautiful song of celebration!

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
