Hope
Holy Week
Sandee Macgregor / March 29, 2021
I love resources and for this Monday morning I am sharing some links to watch and listen as you prepare for Holy Week.
I have been reading through Mark and into Luke. I am overwhelmed with the love Jesus has for us seen in the miracles, parables and the greatest sacrifice of his life given for us (John 3:16). Last week Hope Bible Church spoke on Mark 14 His love is profound and clearly seen in how he treats the woman that anointed him. She was misunderstood and ridiculed, “But Jesus said, ” Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me.” (Mark 14:6). A beautiful thing has been done for Christ and because of what she did she will always be known by her actions, ” Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her” (v.9) In the NLT version, “I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.”
Today I want to remember, talk about and have gratitude for how Christ publicly spoke about this woman. She is being remembered and the gospel is being preached. Pastor Earl spoke last week at Hope Bible Church Here are the 3 teaching points he shared from Mark 14-3-5:
- Extravagant Worship: Jesus is worthy of our worship, What the woman did was a costly, sacrificial gift. It was full out honour and a celebration of Jesus. How am honouring Christ?
- All-Encompassing Worth: Her worship reveals her heart. She made Christ her priority. So, I ask myself today am I making him my priority?
- Enduring Witness: What this woman has done will be remembered and told in memory of her. She has a special place in history! Where are my eyes today? Are they on Jesus? I have been challenged to renew my worship to him.

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
