Homeschooling Reflections

Homeschooling Reflections
I have been going through many bins, including curriculum and work from my kids through the years. I could not keep it all, but I have a sampling of projects, art portfolios, schedules, journals, and sketch pads. I needed a plan for the day, which does not mean it worked! But I created schedules and chore charts for them and my sanity! They were not fancy but valuable! I have a few photos I am sharing today. It has been amazing going through the early years of my homeschooling, and I am thankful I still have a few items around!
Many people have been asking me why we chose this path, and there is a long answer and a short one- today is the short one. I asked myself these same questions, and maybe you have, too.
Are you thinking about homeschooling?
Pray, pray and pray more!
Are you scared of taking that leap of faith?
Pray and begin networking with other homeschooling families. Research local groups and join in! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Are you worried about what other people will think?
You will always have others that disagree and even make you feel small for your decision. It is your family and with God leading you, that is all you need to consider.
Do you think that you can teach your kids?
God gave you these treasures and he will guide your moments and days. You can do it and you do not need to be a trained teacher. The bonus is, you can order the teacher answer keys! Don’t think you have to mark all that math without answers!!!!
Why did we choose to homeschool?
It was a decision that resonated deeply with my soul, guided by faith and a belief in what was best for my kids.
I saw unique needs in my children, and over the years, I was able to remove barriers to optimal learning and create a space that worked for each one of them. I just knew we needed to do it, and the rest would fall into place. It was scary, and I was consumed by fear and what other people would think. I understand those feelings all too well. I was worried that they would not like their new life. Where was recess (many well-meaning people asked me that very question), and where were all of their friends? Through the years, God provided friendships, connections, groups, and abundantly more than I could have imagined.
It was not perfect.
It was the path for our family.
There were many challenges.

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
