Ladies of the Round Table
Sandee Macgregor / August 31, 2020
The morning rush to gather around the table was always worth the effort. With the kids settled into class, the round table full of treasured ladies began. This time has become a lifeline to me because I was enveloped in fervent prayer, immediate fellowship and a safe place to be vulnerable through our tears, laughter and sometimes, silence.
What unifies us is our desire to dig into God’s Word. Our morning always begins with time of worship through intentionally selected songs, reading the Bible, sharing prayer requests/corporate prayer followed by simple announcements to keep us all informed. Bible curriculum is selected by the most wonderful team of women and we transition into a video teaching time followed by small group prayer and discussion, enter ladies of the round table. Once we are gathered, we pray. Sometimes that is all we would do. Typically we review and discuss our weekly homework and share our thoughts and questions. One of our more recent studies by Jen Wilkin called God of Creation and God of the Covenant that begins with Genesis 1:11 then followed by Genesis 12-50. I am so grateful for her ability to guide us through the various men and women we encounter and how it all points to Jesus. Our time around the table was full of awe and wonder how God uses people just like us, imperfect and needy, to his purposes and his glory.
One of the most memorable moments was a few years ago when we took many months to go around the table and share our life stories and how we came to know Christ, it was a time of many tears and treasured laughter that bonded us for life. I felt so honoured that these amazing women were willing to share the depth of their heartache and the pure joy of moments that can only be considered a miracle. Then the pandemic hit. We continue to ‘meet’ through email and sharing prayer requests while spurring one another along, but it’s not the same as meeting in person. Community is such a gift and for now we are in a stage of waiting. I have so much to be thankful for despite the fact we can’t meet. They are a call, email or zoom chat away. To my dear ladies of the round table, I can’t wait to meet again and share in the gift of gathering.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
Hebrews 10:23-25
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
