Love, Katie

Proverbs 31:15 speaks about a woman that, “… rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household.” Well, I will be honest, it has been flipped recently as my youngest has been rising earlier than me and providing me with coffee. My husband taught her how to use the keurig machine and well, let me tell you it has been amazing! Not sure how I fit into Proverbs 31:15 recently, but vacation mode has brought with it some slower mornings and less busy days. The note she wrote me is already taped into my journal. This reminds me of where note writing originated from, my mom. She is the inspiration behind my journal writing and notes I write for my family and others. Thank you mom! Such a simple act has already impacted me and I had to share.
Words have lasting impact, positive or negative. The time it takes to write a simple note is worth the encouragement others will receive. This is how The Switch came to life. This interactive journal that accompanies the Psalm 119 Devotional for mothers and daughters (coming soon!) allows you to freely correspond with your daughter as you daily interact with the words of the Psalmist. My youngest came up with the name and I am so grateful. She said that I should call it The Switch because you switch back and forth with God and with others. So much truth to that statement. My journal is a back and forth writing experience, a prayer to Him and then waiting on His word back to me through scripture. What is your experience with journaling?
I do rise early, just not as consistently recently! For the younger moms that rise in the wee hours of the morning, I have been there and it is exhausting. That is why God gifted us with naptime. A time for you to regain strength for the next part of the day! I encourage you to take that time to rest, read or snack on something special so the kids don’t see (I am laughing as I write this because I did that often). It is a discipline to rest and not busy yourself. Allow time for you and try to balance rest with the daily work that calls. Sometimes the nap is your best option, take it without guilt!
I recall a mom years ago encouraging me that one day my kids will sleep longer than me in the morning. That day has come, they do sleep in. She said that one day you will be able to sleep until 7:30 or 8 am. At the time that was hard to believe! For many years my husband and I would tag team in the mornings so we could rest when we needed it, a wonderful gift so we could make it through our moments and days.
To my youngest daughter, thank you for rising early to bless me with a written note of encouragement and hot coffee. A beautiful Monday moment.

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

This is so sweet! Yes, I agree, nap time is a gift!
I know you understand!
So encouraging for me
as a (still fairly)new mom?
The sweetest of gestures from your youngest- bless her!
Yes, it was so sweet and loving! A gift I will always remember xox
