Nuggets of Wisdom
Sandee Macgregor / February 22, 2022
What name do you have for a chicken nugget? Around here it can be chicken nugs – the deep-fried, golden-crusted, pop-in-your-mouth and leaves an aroma in your car for at least a day kind of food. My kids prefer this over a burger at this famous fast food joint. This nugget is here one moment and gone the next. . The best kind of nugget is the one shared with someone else, “Do you want my last nugget?” Maybe that is a rare offer, but when it happens it is happily received!
There is another type of nugget to be shared and received that you can consume and will fill your soul. It’s found in the book of Proverbs. I love how in the back of the ESV Bible they provide a synopsis of each book. This is what is said about Proverbs,
“Practical wisdom for living is the central concern of the book of Proverbs. We are told that the beginning and the essence of wisdom is the fear of the Lord (1:7;9:10). Proverbs often contrasts the benefits of seeking wisdom and the pitfalls of living a fool’s life. While the wicked stumble in “deep darkness” (4:19), “the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day” (v.18). Proverbs is a collection of Israelite wisdom literature, including an introductory section (chs. 1-9) that gives readers a framework for understanding the rest of the book. The book includes the work of various authors, but much of it’s attributed to King Solomon. It dates from between the tenth and sixth centuries B.C.” ¹
Glorious wisdom to read, consume and live!
Chicken nugs disappear without a thought, but the words of wisdom from Proverbs are food for life that when consumed and change the trajectory of your life.
The Beginning of Knowledge
1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:
2 To know wisdom and instruction,
to understand words of insight,
3 to receive instruction in wise dealing,
in righteousness, justice, and equity;
4 to give prudence to the simple,
knowledge and discretion to the youth—
5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning,
and the one who understands obtain guidance,
6 to understand a proverb and a saying,
the words of the wise and their riddles.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction.
(Proverbs 1:1-7)

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
