I love historical films based on world changers. Amazing Grace came out back in 2007 and overviews the life of William Wilberforce and his friendship with John Newton (who wrote the famous hymn, Amazing Grace) along with many other like-minded friends. It’s an eye-opening perspective of the challenges and convictions Wilberforce carried with him to his death. Tempted to give up on his vision through various trials, he truly was a conqueror. He met others along the way that caught his vision and together took a stand against slavery. Years ago Chris Tomlin helped bring this story to life through his song Amazing Grace. Here is the official music video for the movie by Chris Tomlin. In the film William Wilberforce, John Newton and Hannah Moore (one of my favourite books) found purpose, meaning and joy through Jesus Christ and became agents of change. I also appreciate understanding the story behind songs from the past. Below is link to famous hymns that have impacted the world called Amazing Grace – hymns that changed the world. Perhaps you have heard the hymn but do not know the story. Again, agents of change. Through their personal triumphs and tragedies, these hymns to this day are changing lives. I have many memories of singing these hymns at church as a young girl. I recall watching my parents sing, as a prayer to God, at the time did not realize the impact of those powerful moments. They helped usher me into worship through singing. Recently, my uncle created a video story of my grandparents (my mom’s side). He included recordings and pictures of my grandpa leading worship that affirm again that hymns transcend time, the lyrics and melodies are recognized throughout the world.

What continually inspires me are those keeping the truth alive through music and lyrics today. Collaborating in community to the glory of God brings about change in ways that could never have been imagined! This unique combination of brilliant musicians recently created an album to encourage the world. This is the livestream chat with Chris Tomlin and those that caught his vision. They explain how it came together, such a God-ordained connection. It’s a challenge to select a favourite song, but while on a walk the song, “Chase Me Down” featuring RaeLynn spoke to me profoundly. Those that acted on a prompting and took a risk literally changed the course history. Sometimes we feel too small or ill-equipped. God is going to guide us and give us all we need. In Ephesians 3:20 we are reminded that it is him that will do more in us and through us,
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Our first step is obedience. It can be scary, of course, but he will never leave us or forsake us, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged”
(Deuteronomy 31:8).

Today I am so encouraged as I look back in history that inspires, live in the present watching people taking risks creating works of art and dwelling more on the future hope that we have in the promise that there is more to come, eternity with Jesus. (Psalm 27:4). Revelation 21:1-8

I’m grateful for what we can learn from events in the past and today that lead to a hope in the future . It guides our purpose, meaning that leads to our ultimate joy in Jesus.
