When you feel surrounded by fear and weighed down with a feeling of hopelessness, what do you do? The only thing that can be done is to take hold of what is true found in the Word of God.

In Exodus 17, we read about a battle taking place between Amalek and the Israelites. Joshua was charged with gathering men to go out and fight while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of a hill. Moses raised his hand, and they were winning the battle; they would begin to lose if he lowered it. Aaron and Hur came to him,

“But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.” (v.12)

 

We all need an Aaron and a Hur. The daily battles that come upon us were never meant to be fought alone. God gives us the gift of friends and family to hold us up. Weak and tired, the temptation to lose heart can wash upon you. Those are the moments we need others to rush in, provide a place to rest and be ministered to through prayer, a listening ear, practical blessings, and a just being held. May these songs remind all of us that we need the Lord and there is hope.
