Hope
Steps
Sandee Macgregor / January 31, 2021
Steps we take, choices that lead to those steps and words that come before take us forward in wisdom or lead us astray based on our ability to simple listen.
Recently, my normal everyday steps have come to a screeching halt. Hiking with my dog (we have a lab pup as well and she does not qualify for a hike yet!) walking our trails or just the normal movement around our home is on pause. I wrote about my fall a month ago that resulted in a broken leg and torn ligaments. Post-surgery, I have 30 staples and multiple screws that will forever amaze airport security! Just days ago, I had the cast replaced, staples removed, and an air cast added. None of this would have been possible but though fantastic care from doctors and nurses, paramedics (on the eve of the disaster) and incredible husband, family and friends that have made my unexpected journey more than just manageable, more than tolerable and anything but lonely. Even during this current lockdown in our province, I have been surrounded by my adoring husband, precious daughters and loving sons (although they are both away at school and working). Friends and family have blessed us over and over again with meals, flowers, fresh baked goodies, notes and delicious snacks to serve our cravings! I have been reminded many times that through our suffering, God is up to something, it is never wasted. Although not easy to detect in the middle of the storm, he is moving in my story for his purposes.
When I am reminded this truth, I am comforted. God has graciously given me so many wonderful people in my life praying over my moments and days. I know it because they tell me, text me and literally stand in my doorway and pray over me (and our family).
One month ago, I was ready for steps into a new year my way, God allowed a slight detour, but he never intended this to harm me, no, this has been in his plan and I have to trust he establishes my steps,
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps” (Proverbs 16:9 NIV).
"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
