Thankful for my Sisters!
Sandee Macgregor / May 19, 2023
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible gifts and talents my two older sisters and my sister-in-law are blessed with and continually display in their lives. Though they’d be the last to notice them, their courage and strength radiate to everyone around them and are hard not to notice. It makes me think about how sometimes we’re not aware of the magnitude of how impactful and inspiring we are to others because we do what we do every day, and it doesn’t seem special to us. But it is special! God gives us what we need to carry out our missions, whether large or small and to others looking in at our lives. From our perspective, these gifts are just part of who we are. But to those around us, they can be awe-inspiring.
Both of my older sisters have eight children. To some, that might seem like a Herculean feat (and it is!), but to them, it’s what they were called to do, so God gave them the strength to do it. I’ve watched them raise their families over the years, and they are incredible moms who persevere daily and keep Christ at the center of their lives. They love and honour their husbands and serve and bless their children beyond what I can even share in words. They actively pursue connecting with others in the church, in their communities and their neighbourhood, and they both have such beautiful talents that they bless others with. They are both creative and smart, with my sister Charmaine building a business out of the cake pops and chocolate bombs she loves to create and my sister Paula now the proud owner of a winery in the Niagara region.
When my brother met and married my sister-in-law Halcyon, we were over the moon to welcome another sister to the family. She is fiercely talented, artistic, creative and a brilliant entrepreneur. She has walked me through countless unknowns with website and marketing developments, guiding me toward a path I never saw coming. She is beside me every step of the way, cheering me on with my nieces, who are the two most adorable little girls! Just like myself and my older sisters, they now live in the country and are welcoming their first spring watching the newness of life unfold, and we are blessed to join them on the journey.
All of my sisters have created homes where their children can thrive, and every mom knows that’s not an easy thing to do. My sisters are doing all they can with what God has called them to do, and they are faithful, and I am privileged to have been able to learn from the examples they set for me all my life. They’ve been obedient to building a foundation built on the Word of God, and it has been a joy to watch them model this in their own homes and be mentors to me. Today is a day to celebrate my sisters, thank God for them, and let others know they are doing many beautiful, unique, and creative things while raising their families.
Like most of us, they’re more aware of their imperfections than their gifts, so this is a gentle reminder to them (and to all of you reading this) that you mean more to the people in your lives than you think you do. Even if you can’t always see them, you have numerous gifts noticed and appreciated by those who know and love you. I promise that for them, watching your talents and hard work bear fruit is a privilege and a joy. Thank you, my dear sisters, for all the inspiration! This is for you.
My sisters have ‘got me,’ and they represent Christ to me! This song You Got Me by Jonathon Traylor is a fabulous reminder that God holds us AND has given us others to strengthen one another.

"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
