THE GIFT OF MOTHERHOOD IS A WONDER TO BEHOLD
Sandee Macgregor / December 19, 2024
Recently, I have been discussing topics with other moms, such as sibling rivalry, schooling choices, health concerns, friendship, future education, jobs, and marriage; phew! When it comes to motherhood, every topic is on the table! It got me thinking about the complexities and wonders of motherhood! The gift of motherhood is a wonder to behold. We never stop being moms; it is a gift given to us. Motherhood comes in many different ways. Some are biological or through adoption; some are spiritual moms. What is first? To love the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5).
The gift of motherhood is a wonder to behold.
From the moment we get that pregnancy test back until the Lord calls his home, we never stop being moms; it is a gift given to us. I have said before that motherhood comes in many different ways. Some are biological or through adoption; some are spiritual moms. As we shared in our Bible study group the other night, no matter what we do as followers of Christ, we are called to love God first and to be disciples and disciple others (Matthew 28:16-20). Motherhood may look different for you than it does for me. I have five children, many nieces and nephews, and many opportunities to be a mother figure. I consider it all a gift to behold. I love talking to other moms, hearing their stories while they share their hearts and challenges, and praying with them. I love how they challenge and inspire me. One sweet friend in the early years of motherhood is such a blessing. She’s walking by faith, taking risks and leaning on others to walk with her on the journey of motherhood. We can’t mom alone; we need one another today to be reminded of the gift motherhood is and allow God to use us in the lives of our unique spheres of influence. Right now, you can begin by praying for your children and that God will use you to be his hands and feet.
Maybe today, you begin with a prayer journal, write down the names of your kids, and begin by thanking God for each one, their specific needs, and verses you can pray out loud over them. The beautiful thing about writing it down is that you can return later and note the answers to prayer and what you are still waiting on. Many years ago, a dear friend gifted me a book by Jodie Berndt called Praying the Scriptures for Your Children. I still have the exact copy and am so grateful for how the author walked me through praying for my kids! Here is the link to her book.
Also, I can’t stress enough the importance of spending time with your children. My devotionals are an excellent way to begin today by connecting with them and digging into the word of God together. I mentioned that what you write down can be looked back on later, and that is what my devotionals offer: a treasured keepsake to look back on one day!
Dear Mom, you are not alone! I pray that you find even one other mom and commit to praying for your children, marriage, and needs.
Prayer changes everything!
I hope enjoy this song by Anne Wilson and Lainey Wilson today –Praying Woman
"The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
